PSL Issue Statement On Ndoro

The PSL Have Given A Statement On Tendai Ndoro At Ajax Cape Town

By Soccer Laduma - Feb 16, 2018 01:58 PM

The PSL have issued a statement on the matter of Tendai Ndoro’s eligibility for Ajax Cape Town following protests from both Orlando Pirates & Polokwane City.

It was ruled by the PSL's Dispute Resolutions Chamber that the Zimbabwean was eligible to play, however the PSL themselves then disagreed with it and filed their own appeal. Ajax continued to play Ndoro against the PSL's recommendation, which is what led to the protests from Pirates and City.

The basis of the complaint is that Ajax and Ndoro have broken FIFA rules by playing for three teams in a single season, turning out for the Buccaneers and Al Faisaly before his move to Cape Town.

A statement from the league read as follows:

“Orlando Pirates FC lodged a formal protest against the inclusion by Ajax Cape Town FC of the player Tendai Ndoro in their line up during their Absa Premiership fixture at the Cape Town City Stadium on 31 January 2018.

“Similarly, Polokwane City FC lodged a formal Protest against the inclusion by Ajax Cape Town FC of the player Tendai Ndoro in their line up during their Absa Premiership fixture at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 04 February 2018.

“After hearing legal arguments from all three parties on a preliminary point of law, the Disciplinary Committee directed the parties to file short heads of argument dealing primarily with the jurisdiction of the DC to entertain the Protests within seven days.”

@2twice - So what you are telling me is that PSL just register players without checking anything, They just register everyone?...All im saying is that there was nothing preventing psl from registering ndoro, everyone has an obligation to read the rules and know them. The PSL playing card does not give you a right to play, it simply means you registered.

Why waste time & money by sitting & postponing the hearing which is costing money while the FIFA rules are there. On top of that FIFA told SAFA & PSL to look at the FIFA rules.

@VusmuziMshengu, the matter is still pending. The parties were directed to file Heads of Arguments in the last DC session.

@Ntsunda11, 100%. I would understand if we were discussing about a player who never played in the PSL less than a year ago. A simple case to verify, yet they failed.

@setlaboswana I would like to agree to the saying of South African leadership in football don't read FIFA rules and policies let alone CAF, remember in 2011 when they made us believe that we qualified for 2012 Afcon a doing that dance of shame in front of the public only to found out we're going nowhere. So is the case with Ndoro

@@azzaniawest, FIFA is a World Football Body having National Football Associations and Leagues as affiliates to observe its Rules and/or Policies. These Affiliates have their own Rules and/or Policies to regulate their structures and Members, they have autonomy, they run their own affairs. They apply and enforce their Rules and/or Policies. It is difficult, if not, impossible for them to enforce the provision/s of FIFA Rules. It is about the level of competence or what others will refer to as jurisdiction.

@Ntsunda11, in actual fact, a Club does not register a player, the league does. In practice, a Club lodge registration forms with the league, the league assess the registration forms, verify records and thereafter register or refuse to register a player.

@setlaboswana let me clarify this mate, any team can register any player as long as it doesn't appear in the books of the league. So in this regards Ndoro was not in any books of any team in the PSL. Let's firstly agree to that

@@azzaniawest, no mate, I differ with part of your comment, the league is the custodian of football policies, PSL should have not sanctioned a registration that was in breach of the provision/s of FIFA Rules, in doing so, they acted illegal, they cannot therefore point a finger at Ajax.
