The PSL have agreed to postpone Ajax Cape Town’s next two league games, against Platinum Stars and Golden Arrows, as the club mourn the loss of Cecil Lolo.
Lolo’s passing was sadly confirmed on Sunday after the 27-year-old defender was involved in a car accident in Cape Town, and a flood of tributes from South Africa’s football fraternity have been posted online since the news broke.
The Siya crew reported earlier today that the Urban Warriors had requested that their games this week be postponed as they look to deal with the loss of one of their own, and it seems that their wish has been granted by the league.
It has been confirmed to the crew that both the Dikwena and Abafana Bes’thende games have been postponed until a later date, with Arrow’s official Twitter account offering their condolences to Ajax and Lolo’s family.
They said, “The game scheduled for Saturday against Ajax Cape Town has been postponed due to the untimely death of Cecil Lolo this past weekend. We will keep you updated as to when the game will be played and once again send our condolences to the Lolo family and Ajax Cape Town.”
It remains to be seen when exactly the games will be rescheduled for, however the Ajax management and players will be thankful that the PSL have given them chance to get over the death of their colleague, teammate and friend.
