Eight Key Dates For Your PSL Diary...

The start of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season is now just around the corner, and the Premier Soccer League has confirmed some key dates for the campaign ahead.

Check out eight key dates for the upcoming season in the gallery above!

League games are due to get underway in just over two weeks’ time now as the teams finally get back to work after a lengthy break, and the Siya crew has gotten hold of the full list of proposed fixtures for the league and cup competitions over the course of the next 10 months.

A statement was released this week regarding some key dates for the year, including when the league will finish, with the full statement from the PSL reading as follows:

“The 2019/20 Absa Premiership season will kick-off on Saturday afternoon, 03 August 2019 at 15h00.

“The first block will include some exciting fixtures including the Absa Premiership Tshwane derby between defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns against SuperSport United, league runner-ups Orlando Pirates against Bloemfontein Celtic, Baroka FC against Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City, Highlands Park hosting Kaizer Chiefs in Tembisa and AmaZulu against Bidvest Wits.

“There will be two more derbies on the opening weekend; – the Limpopo derby between Black Leopards, who will be at home in Thohoyandou against Polokwane City and the Kwa-Zulu Natal derby featuring Lamontville Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. 

“Newly promoted club, Stellenbosch FC will travel to Port Elizabeth to play Chippa United on Saturday. The League can also reveal that the last day of the Absa Premiership is scheduled for Saturday, 09 May 2020.

“In cup competitions, the MTN8 will kick-off on the weekend of 17/18 August 2019. The 2019/20 Telkom Knockout will kick-off after the October international break on the weekend of 19 October 2019.”

All dates are, of course, subject to change.
