PSL: No Outcome On Ndoro... Yet

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed that there is still no update on the matter involving Ajax Cape Town and the registration of Tendai Ndoro.

It was reported last week by the Siya crew that following a PSL Exco meeting, the association are still uncertain about the interpretation of the rules and whether Ndoro is eligible to be fielded by Ajax.

According to the FIFA regulations, a player can be registered for three clubs in a season but only play official matches for two of those clubs.

Rule 5.3 states, “Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.”

Ndoro has been registered with Orlando Pirates, Al-Faisaly in Saudi Arabia and now Ajax Cape Town during the 2017/18 season, having already played official matches for all three of these clubs, which means that the player has contravened FIFA’s rules.

However, sources close to Ajax have revealed that Ajax are of the understanding that they did not contravene any of the FIFA regulations.

Ajax had requested an urgent hearing with the DRC on Monday, January 29, to get a declaratory order, confirming whether or not Ndoro can play for the rest of season.

The Siya crew subsequently got into contact with the PSL’s head of communications, Luxolo September who confirmed that there is still no outcome yet.

“Matter is with the DRC, no outcome yet,” was all September told the Siya crew.
