The Most Experienced PSL Brothers
Itumeleng Khune, his brother, Lucky and the Sangweni brothers are amongst the brothers with the most combined experience in the PSL.
There have been a number of PSL players that have spent time together in the top flight of South African football, but it is Orlando Pirates’ Thamsanqa (126) and Siyabonga Sangweni (202) who have racked up the most combined appearances, 328, out of all the brothers currently active in the PSL. Another Sangweni brother has also been on the books of AmaZulu and Durban warriors, but is currently a free agent and has yet to make a single appearance
Following them are Mario and David Booysen, who have made 256 league appearances between them for various clubs, including Maritzburg United, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town. The third most experienced brothers are Itumeleng and Lucky Khune, who have 229 appearances to their names, but the Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper makes up the vast majority of those, having taken to the pitch on 215 occasions.
Rounding off the top five are Bryce and Ryan Mon (161 appearances), who are followed by Papi and Ntlantla Zothwane, who have made a combined 151 appearances. Historically, the late Richard and Joseph Henyekane, who would have come in fourth with 204 appearances between them prior to their deaths in 2015 and 2014, respectively.
