Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Pitso Mosimane recently considered an out-of-favour player in his matchday setup, although circumstances may not have changed for the player.
Asavela Mbekile was on the bench for Sundowns during their 2-0 victory over Chippa United in the Absa Premiership last week, although, did not manage to get in any game-time during the encounter.
Mbekile has not seen any game-time this season and it may have come as a surprise to most fans that the 31-year-old was included on the bench at the time.
Pitso Mosimane is currently faced with having to rotate his squad due to the Brazilians’ schedule, with last week being crunch time for the head coach. Following Thapelo Morena’s injury, with Anele Ngcongca being the only right-back available to start, resulted in Mosimane placing Mbekile on the bench for back up.
Sources have added that despite being included in the line-up for the first time since last season, there is still no change in the player’s situation at the club, with his contract set to come to an end on June 30 this year.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City are believed to be monitoring the player's situation.
