Foreign Hotshot Pens PSL Deal!
We’re into the last two weeks of the Premier Soccer League’s transfer window, and a foreign hotshot has just become the latest player to pen an Absa Premiership deal.
Clive Augusto, who was a star player for Chicken Inn in Zimbabwe last season, has been confirmed by Maritzburg United, with the club suggesting that he will be their last signing by saying they have now ‘wrapped up their transfer business’.
The 24-year-old frontman has clearly done enough to impress Eric Tinkler and his technical team, especially after scoring 14 goals in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League last season, and he comes on board as their second Zimbabwean signing of the season after Gabriel Nyoni.
Farook Kadodia, the club’s chairman, told their official website, "The coach has been following him for a while… He scored 14 goals in 18 matches last season and had been on not only the radar of our club, but of other teams as well.
"As such we are delighted that Clive has chosen Maritzburg United and we're confident that once he has settled in he will prove to be a valuable member of our squad, adding more goals up front.”
The forward has signed a three-year deal with a two-year option in Pietermaritzburg, and will be eager to make an impact in South Africa’s top-flight as soon as possible.
