PSL Issue Statement Clarifying Play-Off Situation

The Absa Premiership Play-Offs Will Go Ahead As Planned

By Soccer Laduma - May 15, 2018 02:24 PM
The Premier Soccer League has issued a statement clarifying the situation regarding the relegation play-offs after a decision was taken that effectively relegated Ajax Cape Town.

While Ajax say that they are not letting the matter lie following the guilty verdict that saw them docked seven points and leapfrogged by Platinum Stars, the PSL say that tomorrow’s play-off clash with Black Leopards in Thohoyandou will go ahead.

The statement read as follows:

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has received the award in the arbitration proceedings concerning Ajax Cape Town and Mr Tendai Ndoro from Arbitrator, Advocate W. Mokhari SC.

Ajax Cape Town FC was charged with five charges of misconduct arising from the club fielding Mr Ndoro in various matches. The Arbitrator also heard an appeal by Polokwane City FC against the fielding of Mr Ndoro in their match as well as a Protest by SuperSport United.

The Arbitrator today ruled that Ajax Cape Town were guilty of breaching SAFA and FIFA Regulations relating to their fielding of Mr Ndoro. Polokwane City’s appeal and Supersport United’s Protest were also upheld.

Adv. Mokhari SC awarded the matches played by Ajax Cape Town against Platinum Stars, Polokwane City and Supersport United to those clubs with a 3-0 scoreline. In addition, Ajax Cape Town were fined a total of R 350 000.00.

Mr Ndoro was sentenced to a two-match suspension for his misconduct. Ajax Cape Town was ordered to pay the costs (including the costs of senior counsel) of the other parties involved in the arbitration.

Platinum Stars Football Club will, therefore, participate in the Promotion play-offs as envisaged in the NSL Handbook read with the Play-off Rules on the dates.

For clarity purposes, the scheduled fixture in Thohoyandou tomorrow (Wednesday, 16 May 2018 – 15h00) between Black Leopards and (now) Platinum Stars will go ahead.

@LeCowhlohlo, yeah, I point my finger at the Chairman, he should be held accountable for this mess, like any leader in an organisation.

Why was the player registered in the first place if he wasn't eligible to play. MXM PSL is more than useless

The PSL have made a big mess off this one. Making them selfs look even more like clowns. They can never just get something done efficiently and simple. Clowns.

This time the PSL has made blinder. Ajax was given a green light to play Mr Ndoro by a PSL office. Had that office told Ajax not to use Ndoro in the first place, Ajax would not have used him. As it stands what it means now is that that PSL department which allowed Ajax to use Ndoro should be abolished because it is a waste of money (employees'salaries) since its decisions have got no value. If Ajax had the means they could sue the PSL for putting a trap on them. I have got a feeling Ajax are just being punished for signing Mr Ndoro when a certain team still needed him. The PSL has proved this time that ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS.

@LeCowhlohlo, Modokwa, I stand by my comments on the Ndoro saga. I hope you are aware that Ajax have launched an urgent application in the High Court to stop the play-offs. It is going to be messy thanks to Khoza 's incompetence.

Ever heard about smoke and fire ? Well the first team OPFC protest to Ndoro fielding before match. Did Ajax legal team and their compliance go back to read and get clarity on the rules ? No,Ndoro is fielded game after the other. Ajax is to blame. OPFC warned them. It could have cost them nothing, should they stopped playing Ndoro against the rest of the other teams since OPFC withdrew their protest.

@setlaboswana you owe Dr Khoza a huge apology as you were busy make him a laughing stock you think he don't know the football rules, he's not a leader by example. I was busy asking you why you like to talk the allegations, look now what happened. Hence, you made him(Dr Khoza) end up withdraw the case because you were thinking he's trying to win the league by hook nor crook. From now on you must stop that tendency of yours to be too decisive without the evidence. Dr Khoza was a Colonel he lead by example, without him something like this would never happen. This is what we call the end of corruption. #CorruptionMustFallColonelKhoz aIsHere.

@Myaka weliPhefeni you must get your facts straight, PSL never gave Ajax the permission to field Ndoro but it was the PSL DRC that granted the permission. At the very same day that the permission was granted, the PSL issued a statement saying they do not agree with the DRC's decision and they are intending to appeal it, Ajax was also notified. People must know the difference between the PSL and the PSL DRC.

For people who complain about the time . Khoza explained last time why cases takes long. It all depends on accused. If accused pleaded guilty the hearing will be quicker. Ajax was the one who drag this for so long
