Mamelodi Sundowns have officially announced the signing of Bloemfontein Celtic star, Thapelo Morena.
In issue 974 of Soccer Laduma, it was reported that Masandawana had tabled an offer for the player’s services, coming up against Kaizer Chiefs in a race for Morena’s signature.
Celtic were stern in their attempts to hold onto the Bafana Bafana international. However, the club finally agreed to negotiate the player’s exit, as Moreno was adamant on taking the next big step in his professional career.
Now the club have confirmed that the player will be part of Pitso Mosimane’s side ahead of the club’s title-defending season, and has signed a five-year deal with Masandawana.
"The announcement ends speculation about the future of the player, who penned a five year deal with the Champions. Several PSL clubs were said to be after his signature," the club confirmed on their official website.
"Morena was unveiled on Wednesday, 17 August 2016, and will be joining his new team-mates as the side prepares for their next assignment against Enyimba and might feature if the coach decides to register him for the current CAF campaign – particularly with the injury of Keagan Dolly who has been rested following a hamstring strain sustained in Brazil," the club concluded.
Morena is the fourth signing made by Sundowns in this transfer window, joining up with Lucky Mohomi, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Ricardo Nascimento.
