The Siya crew can reveal that former Golden Arrows goalkeeper, Siyabonga Mngoma, will be donning the colours of Thanda Royal Zulu.
Mngoma had been number one goalkeeper for the Durban side for most parts of the season, but approached Mark Harrison and asked to be dropped following a 3-0 loss to Bloemfontein Celtic. Soon after that he parted ways with the club, much to the shock of many in the football fraternity.
As if that was not enough, the player was said to be considering retirement from football, having taken up a job at the Durban Municipality. However, the 25-year-old has now been given a lifeline by Thanda in the National First Division.
His business manager, Mike Makaab, revealed to the crew, “We have agreed terms with Thanda and it looks like he will join them for the rest of the season. It’s a short-term deal basically.”
