Gabuza’s Likely Return After On-Field Drama In Last Match …

Thamsanqa Gabuza will be expected to return for the match against Baroka FC, after leaving Orlando Pirates and his teammates on the field during their last match.

Gabuza surprised everyone at the Peter Mokaba Stadium against Black Leopards and the multitudes watching on television, when he walked off the field without the approval of anyone, including his coach Milutin Sredojevic nor the match officials. The striker has since apologised for his actions in front of his coach and technical team, as well as his teammates.

However, the 31-year-old will not be available for the team against SuperSport United after the FIFA international break, as Sredojevic and the side will be searching for their third league win of the season in what will be their sixth match.

Gabuza will be serving the first of his two-match suspension, meaning that the forward will also miss the next match against Cape Town City.

The following match against Baroka on September 22, is expected to mark the return for Gabuza, should he be selected for Sredojevicmatchdayday squad.

“To the Pirates supporters, I’d like to apologise for what happened in the game against (Black) Leopards, taking my shirt off and throwing it to the supporters and going off the field (without permission). Like, as players when we are in the dressing room, we represent the team and when we go to the field, we do so with everything we have to win the game and make our supporters happy. It is not like you go (into the field) to cost the team. It was my frustration, when I heard what people were saying about me, that led to me leaving the field but, for that, I’d really like to apologise for everything I’ve done. What happened was not right and I’m really, really sorry. I repeat, I’m very, very sorry (Translated and edited),” said Gabuza.
