Amajita head coach, Thabo Senong has set his sights on guiding the U20 national squad to the semi-finals of the CAF African Youth Championships and securing a World Cup berth in New Zealand.
The South Africans commence the CAF African Youth Championships with a fixture lined up against Ghana later today, and despite two more games to play in their respective group against Mali and Zambia, Senong has expressed confidence in a top four finish which will see Amajita qualify for the U20 World scheduled in two months’ time.
“We have been here for quite some time and we are all raring to go. The morale is good and the boys are well-focused,” said Senong on SAFA’s website after the team had wrapped up their final training session ahead of today’s encounter.
“Ghana are a tough side but we are equally good, so I am expecting an exciting match.”
“We need to ensure we reach the semi-finals and book our spot for the World Cup in New Zealand,” concluded the youthful mentor.
