With both Oupa Manyisa and Happy Jele likely to miss the Soweto Derby this weekend, Orlando Pirates are set to have a different captain for their game against Kaizer Chiefs.
Manyisa is the Pirates captain and has been a leader for the side on the field this season.
But since the midfielder picked up an ankle injury against Polokwane City in September, Jele has been captaining the side.
Jele himself picked a hamstring injury, during the 2-0 loss against Golden Arrows at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night.
With Jele substituted with Edwin Gyimah in the first half of the game against Arrows, the captain’s armband was changed between Thamsanqa Gabuza and Thabo Matlaba later on the night.
Gabuza wore the armband for the remainder of the first half, while Matlaba returned from the change room wearing it for the second half.
Depending on Eric Tinkler’s line-up and the options available for a leader for the game of the Derby’s magnitude, Matlaba could retain the captaincy against Chiefs on Saturday.
