Thabang Monare’s agent has commented on the future of the in-demand midfielder, although he is playing his cards very close to his chest.
Over the last few months, Monare’s future has been a topic of hot discussion, with the player strongly linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates, following the sale of Bidvest Wits’ top-flight status to businessman Masala Mulaudzi.
Last week, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC released a statement confirming that they have released both Monare and Sifiso Hlanti. The two will not be with the club for the 2020/21 season.
“Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila Football Club confirm the release of Sifiso Hlanti and Thabang Monare with immediate effect. The club would like to take this opportunity to thank both players for their outstanding contribution and wishing them good luck in their future careers,” the statement read.
With Monare’s former coach, Gavin Hunt, having been confirmed as the head coach at Chiefs, both Monare and Hlanti are expected to join him at the Soweto giants - pending a positive outcome of the club’s appeal against their FIFA ban.
The Siya crew spoke to the 31-year-old’s representative and, while there is interest in the midfielder, Mirko Agnelli would not divulge where the player is heading.
“Obviously, with a player of Thabang’s quality and reputation, there will be a lot of interest in his services and, seeing that he will now be moving as a free agent, we will be looking to find the right deal for him. Where that might be, will be clearer in the coming days,” Agnelli explained.
There will be no transfer fee involved, due to the fact that Monare has been released, which will allow the player to negotiate a lucrative move, in what could be the final big-money deal of his professional career.
