Cape Town City’s Teko Modise has spoken ahead of his side’s clash against Mamelodi Sundowns which could take them closer to the number one spot on the league standings.
City are currently second place on the Absa Premiership log, just four points behind leaders, Sundowns, and should they manage to claim all three points tomorrow, they will be one point away from edging the Brazilians to the number one spot.
The two sides will lock horns at the Athlone Stadium on Friday evening in a promising league encounter, with both sides coming off the back of draws in the Absa Premiership.
Speaking to the media, former Sundowns midfielder, Modise, who now plies his trade for the blue and gold army, is confident that his side is in the right frame of mind going into the encounter, but also thinks that whoever wants it more will emerge as the winners on the day.
“It is a very important game, they are on top of the log and we are a few points behind. The aim and ambition is to try and minimise the points between (us and) the first position, that’s why it is going to be important for us to get a good result against Sundowns even though we know the qualities that they have and they are such a good team,” Modise told the media.
“We are also a very good team with so much ambition but on the day, whoever wants it more will win the game.
“We are playing very well but one thing that is disappointing is that we are not scoring as many goals as we are supposed to and hopefully on the day we can cause an upset,” Modise added.
