Mamelodi Sundowns inspirational midfield kingpin, Teko Modise, has joined in on the 2014 World Cup buzz, and says he favours Brazil to be crowned champions this time around.
Modise, who starred for his club this past season as they claimed the PSL title, has also said that it is depressing Bafana Bafana did not qualify for the World Cup.
“What is really sad is the fact that my country South Africa will not be taking part in it. It would have been great to play in Brazil, but unfortunately we did not make it,” he said according to his official website.
'Dona' who has also been nominated in the 2014 Gauteng Sports Awards for the Sports Personality of the Year Award, said that he looks forward to watching some of the current world stars in action apart from the usual Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“There are players who have been excelling in the different leagues world-wide. Interesting figures to look out for are the likes of Neymar da Silva Santos, Eden Hazard and Oscar dos Santos Emboaba.”
“The Navigator” said that he is thrilled in seeing his fellow teammate, Rashid Sumaila, in action for Ghana, and said that he is joyful of him.
“What should be the highlight of the tournament is seeing how far the African countries will make it. I am looking forward to watching Ghana because they assembled what I think is a great team. It will be interesting to see their creative celebrations, not forgetting that my teammate Rashid Sumaila is part of the final squad. I am proud of the lad.”
When it came to predicting, he mentioned that Germany stands a good chance of winning the contest, but said that he ultimately hopes Brazil clinches it.
“Putting my head on the block, it is time to predict the winner. I think Germany will do a great job in progressing in the competition. They have a young and good squad, plus the Bundesliga produced a lot of talent. As much as I like Germany, I want to see a Spain vs Brazil final. So I put my money on Brazil to win this one,” he added.
