Teko Modise has parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns! The player’s camp and club mutually agreed against exercising the added one-year option on his contract and the player is now free to move on with his professional football career.
An official statement from Sundowns confirmed the news. The official statement read:
“Mamelodi Sundowns has decided to release Teko Modise from his contractual obligations in order for him to negotiate a good contract for himself at this stage of his football career.
“Mamelodi Sundowns is grateful to Teko for his many years of loyal service to the Club and wishes him everything of the very best.
“Teko played an important part in the two PSL titles and the CAF Championship as well as the CAF Super Cup which Mamelodi Sundowns won during the past season.”
Modise has been linked to several clubs leading up to the July/August transfer window including the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City.
Now, with his clearance in hand, the player’s camp is expected to assess his options and make a decision on what could be his last professional contract. The player will be in no rush to conclude a deal in his immediate future and has the luxury of taking his time to plot his next move without being constrained by the transfer window due to the fact that he is a free agent.
