Sundowns have been notorious for their extravagant transfer window spending and big squads full of the best players in the PSL.
Recently, however, the Brazilians seem to have bucked this trend and it seems as though the policy at Chloorkop has shifted as the club look to tighten their finances.
Dumitru spoke to Soccer Laduma and indicated that he doesn’t think that club president, Motsepe, should be held responsible for the wastage.
“Patrice Motsepe was not the person who was responsible for the financial disaster that has taken place at Mamelodi Sundowns. Patrice didn’t do the recruiting. It was other people.”
“Somebody or some people have to be accountable for the mess! People know this fact when they go to him to ask for funding and all those things.”
“Sure, he does ask questions, but when you have a group of people who come to you and tell you sign this player and that, Patrice will not oppose it. I do not know if he still does it today, but I am talking from my time when I was there, " the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor added.
