News filtering through to Siya crew’s desk is that Ajax Cape Town have appointed Ian Taylor as the club’s interim coach, following Muhsin Ertugral’s resignation.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, the Turkish-born mentor arrived in Cape Town this week following his foster father’s passing.
The Siya crew contacted the Urban Warriors PRO, Thabiso 'Shooz' Mekuto, who confirmed the coach’s resignation and said the club has appointed Ian Taylor as the interim coach, but could not reveal the coach's personal reasons.
"The coach has resigned and said that is due to personal reasons, and I believe it's something we can't undermine. At the moment we have no replacements but we have an interim coach, Ian Taylor and we'll take it from there. It doesn't affect our preparations that much because the team was prepared by Taylor, David Nyathi and Sander Westerveld ahead of our game against Pirates as Ertugral arrived last Sunday.
"I can't say much about how our players have received the news but they can only respond on Monday when we face Pirates or the game after that. We can't judge the boys over one game, obviously we cannot doubt Muhsin's influence as a coach. But as a football club, everyone comes and make an impact and contribution in the team. Muhsin has made a huge contribution in the club as per his contract and expectations. It's up to the club now to find a direction that will be suitable for it. He didn't specify if he's going back home or staying in the country," added Mekuto.
