Wits defender Thomas Sweswe is still battling his way to recovery from a knee injury.
The former Kaizer Chiefs player is yet to play this season, as he had been waiting for his South African permanent residency papers before being registered by the club. But the good news is that he has received the papers, having stayed in South Africa for five consecutive years since 2009 when he came to join Chiefs.
The 32-year-old Sweswe also featured for Manning Rangers in the 2004/05 season. He is expected to return to action in December as soon as he recovers from his injury.
He told the Siya crew, “I went for an arthroscopy on my right knee on Wednesday and I’m slowly working my way back to recovery. I will be out for six to eight more weeks. I also received my permanent residency papers two weeks ago and I've been registered as a local.”
