The Siya crew has been informed that Wits' Thomas Sweswe is close to returning to action following a long layoff due to injury.
The steely Zimbabwean defender has battled with a knee injury and is yet to play this season. He had also been waiting for his South African permanent residency papers, which he has received, allowing him to be registered as a local.
Having gone for an arthroscopy on his right knee back in October, Sweswe has slowly but surely worked his way back to recovery and will be hoping to see some action in the second round of the season.
Speaking to the crew, the 32-year-old said, “I’m training with the rest of the guys now, but I’m not yet available for selection. I still need to work my way back to the right level of fitness, but I’m sure when we come back from the December holidays, I will be ready to play.”
