Moroka Swallows chairman, Leon Prins, says that the club will soon open negotiations regarding a new, improved contract for attacker Lerato Chabangu at Dobsonville.
The 28-year-old has been in fine form for the Dube Birds so far this season, contributing a number of goals and assists throughout their campaign so far.
It had been thought that the Bafana Bafana midfielder could leave Swallows at the end of the season on a pre-contract, although, as the Siya crew recently reported, his contract will automatically be extended by one year should he make a certain percentage of appearances for the club.
Now, speaking to the Siya crew, Prins explained that he plans to sit down with Chabangu and his representative, Glyn Binkin, in the near future.
He said, “From where he was, he has been phenomenal, and I think he and Swallows are a great combination. Mostly he has got his pride back because he is playing regularly. He will be rewarded for that in time and I am intending to sit down with Glyn and him to talk about the future.”
Chabangu missed Swallows’ last game through suspension, but will be available when the PSL resumes on December 16 following Nelson Mandela’s funeral.
