Swallows coach Zeca Marques confirmed after the game that he had seen enough of Lawrence and had decided not to offer him a contract.
“As I said to you earlier, I’m using these practice matches to look at my trialists and that’s how we've managed to see that Sheldon won’t fit into my system, so we decided not to sign him,” said Marques.
“As for the other two trialists, Luvuyo Memela and Joao Pedro Henriques Neto, they’ll continue to train with us. We’ll make a decision about their future with us soon,” added Marques.
Meanwhile, Marques said he wasn’t reading into today’s heavy loss to Chiefs.
“It was just a practice match and I don’t care what the score line was because I wasn’t paying much attention to that. I was looking at how my trialists respond in a match situation,” concluded Marques.
Swallows' next game is against University of Pretoria in the Telkom Knockout on Saturday, 5 October.
