Moroka Swallows are hoping to challenge Orlando Pirates for the signature of midfielder Jacky Motshegwa.
The 25-year-old has been handed his clearance by Bloemfontein Celtic after his contract with the club entered into its last month, meaning that he is now free to join whichever club he wishes.
While it has been no secret that Pirates are keen to try and bring the midfield man into their ranks, the Siya crew have been informed that they may face competition from their neighbours in Dobsonville.
Polokwane City were thought to be targeting the midfielder, who was deemed surplus to requirements in Bloemfontein, although it seems that the newly-promoted PSL side were priced out of the market.
Now it is believed that it is a two-horse race for Motshegwa’s signature, with Pirates said to have prepared a three-year deal for the player and Swallows also eager to snap him up.
It remains to be seen which team Motshegwa will choose to join, although a decision is expected within the next week.
