Moroka Swallows will be looking to go top of the PSL standings when they take on Maritzburg United at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.
The Birds are currently lying second with 10 points after five games and they will topple SuperSport United, who are also on 10 points, if they beat the The Team of Choice.
“We’re playing at home, so obviously we’ll be looking at accumulating all three points against Maritzburg. We know what this game means to us and we want to make back-to-back wins following the win against SuperSport,” Swallows coach Zeca Marques told the Siya crew.
“Maritzburg are also coming from a good win against Black Aces, so their confidence is also high. We need to give them our outmost respect and not take them for granted. When you’re playing against a team like Maritzburg you need to raise your game, so that’s what I’ll ask my players to do,” added Marques.
In head-to-head stats, Swallows and Maritzburg have met in 14 league matches since 2005/06.
The Birds have seven wins compared to three for the Team of Choice, while four matches have been drawn.
Swallows have a good home record against United, with four wins and just one defeat from seven matches.
That lone home defeat arrived last season, with the Birds beaten 3-1 in Soweto. However, they claimed some revenge with a 1-0 win in the return game in Pietermaritzburg.
