Moroka Swallows CEO Leon Prins has confirmed with the Siya crew that the club has exercised their option to retain Katlego Mashego’s services.
The former Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows striker has excelled with the Dube Birds since joining at the start of the season, prompting the club to extend his stay in Dobsonville.
Mashego has scored a number of important goals for the Zeca Marques-coached outfit, although the team has struggled to find consistent form.
Mahoota, as the player is affectionately known in football circles, is the league’s joint top scorer with Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker, both on nine goals. The Bushbuckridge-born player was unlucky not to make Gordon Igesund’s team for the African Cup of Nations.
Although Prins would not reveal the finer details of the deal, Soccer-Laduma has learnt that the player will remain at the Dobsonville-based side until the end of the 2013/14 season.
