SuperSport United will be without seven of their players, including standout midfielder Sipho Mbule, ahead of their DStv Premiership opener this weekend.
Matsatsantsa got their campaign off to a winning start when they secured their place in the MTN8 semi-final thanks to a 3-2 win over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila last weekend.
The Tshwane outfit will now shift their focus to the league, where they have Black Leopards lying in wait on Saturday evening.
Speaking to the media in a virtual press conference, SuperSport coach Kaitano Tembo confirmed that he will have to make do without seven players who are missing out due to injury.
“We are a little bit thin in terms of the players that are out, but I’ve got confidence in what we have at the moment, in terms of the starting eleven we have capable players who can give us a good performance to win the game,” Tembo told the media.
Amongst them is Mbule, who last season staked his claim in the SuperSport starting XI alongside Teboho Mokoena. The 22-year-old was pivotal in the team winning the MTN8 trophy last season.
The 22-year-old made 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals in the process for Tembo’s team.
The coach meanwhile has reiterated his desire to rectify the mistakes of last season as they attempt to stake a claim for the league in the current campaign, starting off with the encounter against Leopards, which could be a tricky encounter for the men from Tshwane.
"Look, we are playing against a team who have got a new coach, obviously the players want to do well. They want to raise their hands and show the new coach what they can do and that is very dangerous to play against a team who have players that want to prove themselves," Tembo added.
The clash against Lidoda Duvha on Saturday 24 October is scheduled for 20:15.
