After a decade at the club, SuperSport United have handed one of their long-serving players a new and improved deal.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has been rewarded for his success between the sticks for Matsatsantsa with the club tying him down on a new long-term deal at the club that will take him until the end of the 2023/24 Absa Premiership season.
Williams' new contract was confirmed on the club's social media account earlier today as they said, "SuperSport United is pleased to announce that Ronwen Williams has signed a four and a half-year contract extension which sees him at the club till 2024. Ronwen has been a part of the club now for 19 years with a record of 300 clubs caps under his belt."
Speaking after announcing his new deal, the club's CEO, Stan Matthews, said, "In many ways, Ronwen is the poster child of the club. He represents so much of what we stand for in terms of trying to give maximum opportunity for talented young players to shine."
The 27-year-old is set to play his 304th game for SuperSport this weekend as they go up against Mamelodi Sundowns in the latest Tshwane Derby, and he'll be hoping to keep his 116th clean sheet.
