SuperSport United have completed the signing of Washington Arubi on a free transfer, as predicted by the Siya crew.
It was reported by the crew earlier this week that Matsatsantsa were one of three teams that had shown an interest in the veteran goalkeeper, and that the Tshwane-based outfit was leading the race for his signature.
The 32-year-old Zimbabwean will see his contract with Stellenbosch FC expire at the end of June, and SuperSport have moved quickly to add to their goalkeeping department as rumours begin to swirl regarding the future of in-demand Reyaad Pieterse. Siya sources revealed on Monday that he had started training with SuperSport.
Siya sources have suggested that the player's new contract could see him through until 2021 if all goes well, with the former University of Pretoria shot-stopper set to battle it out with Ronwen Williams for a spot in the starting XI of whoever comes in as Eric Tinkler's long-term replacement.
Arubi joins James Keene and Luke Fleurs as new players who will be with the club next season, while Tefu Mashamaite and Kingston Nkhatha are among the players who have been released.
