SSU Confirm Brockie Approach Amid Sundowns Interest
SuperSport United confirmed that they have received an approach for their striker, Jeremy Brockie, with Mamelodi Sundowns seemingly interested.
The Siya crew reported recently that Masandawana were keen to bring the New Zealander on board for the new season, with their interest not waning since their failed attempt to get him at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.
Having recently signed a new long-term contract, Brockie will not come cheap and given his return of nearly 40 Absa Premiership goals in two and a half seasons, Matsatsantsa will not be eager to let him go.
However, regardless of his importance to the side, it comes as no shock that the Kiwi is in demand and – as reported in today’s issue of Soccer Laduma, people have now started to come knocking.
The Siya crew spoke to Stan Matthews, SuperSport’s CEO, who confirmed that there had been approaches regarding the forward, although he wouldn’t go as far as revealing the identity of the club(s).
Matthews said, “I’ve had approaches for Jeremy, but he’s still very much our player. And, until we’ve appointed a new coach, I’m not making any decisions on the squad.”
Brockie will be in action this weekend when SuperSport go to the DRC to face TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederation Cup.
