Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Tembo played down the significance of their top-of-the-table clash, claiming that it is just another three points on offer, but has admitted that a win over the undefeated Birds would keep Matsatsantsa within touching distance of their Tshwane rivals and log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.
“For me, it’s not one game that will necessarily determine whether we are going to win the league or not but it’s a game that might give us an opportunity to stay closer to teams like Sundowns, who have been wobbling in the past three games where they got three draws,” Tembo said.
“But they won yesterday and they are still top of the table so it says a lot about the unpredictability of this league whereby you lose one or two games you lose touch, but you win two-three games and all of a sudden you are competing for the title,” Tembo added.

Tembo was diplomatic when asked if a win over the Birds, who have punched above their weight, would stake their claim as genuine DStv Premiership contenders this season.
“It is a game that gives you three points, if you look at it I think we played AmaZulu and we played Sundowns and we dropped points in those games but we came back and we won against TTM and all of a sudden we are also back on track. So, one game at a time is very key. If we get the three points, we’ll be very happy,” we’ll be happy Tembo said.
Tembo will head into the clash with an almost clean bill of health with only Iqraam Rayners and Guily Manziba missing out through injury.
