SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns are both making a late push to try and land Cape Town City’s Bafana Bafana call-up, Aubrey Modiba.
The versatile 21-year-old impressed at the recent Olympic Games after a solid showing for Mpumalanga Black Aces in the 2015/16 season and has now got off to a good start playing under Coach Eric Tinkler in the Western Cape.
According to Siya sources, both SuperSport and Sundowns are making a last-minute bid to try and land the U23 international – who is currently in Nelspruit on Bafana duty – and are hoping to try and finalise a move before the transfer window slams shut at midnight.
While both clubs are serious about getting the player, it is widely known that Modiba – whose contract has one year left to run – has ambitions of playing overseas, ambitions that may see him lean more towards the blue side of Tshwane than the yellow one.
The Siya crew will continue to monitor Modiba’s situation over the next few hours to see if a move can be finalised in time or whether he will remain in the Cape for the time being.
