Wits have pinpointed SuperSport United midfielder, Sameehg Doutie, as a possible target, but are unlikely to get him this transfer window.
The Siya crew reported earlier this month that interest in the midfielder was growing, with Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns said to be keen on signing him from Matsatsantsa.
Stan Matthews, SuperSport’s CEO, has since confirmed that the Clever Boys are interested, though denied that he’d ever had any enquiries about the player from Sundowns.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Matthews said, “Wits have been in contact with us about Sameehg, but there’s been nothing from Sundowns and we’ve heard no more from the Russian club that was interested in him.
“We definitely won’t be selling Sameehg in this transfer window, so there’s no chance of him going.”
Doutie’s current contract with SuperSport will expire in June, although he does have a year’s option on top of that should the player and the club want to extend their relationship together.
