Absa Premiership:

Result: SuperSport United 1-0 AmaTuks

Date: 31 January 2014

Time: 20h00

A solitary goal by Lebogang Manyama was enough to earn SuperSport United a 1-0 win over Pretoria rivals AmaTuks in their Absa Premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday.

SuperSport United made the perfect star to this Absa Premiership encounter when they took an early lead against their Tswane rivals through Lebogang Manyama’s header in the ninth minute following a great cross by Brandon Dean.

SuperSport’s Bevan Fransman then tried his luck with a long range effort but Buhle Mkhwanaz did well to block the effort in the 16th minute.

AmaTuks then had their first real shot at goal with just over half an hour played, but Grant Kekana shot wide from a tight angle.

The hosts went into the half-time break with their 1-0 lead intact at a rain soaked Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

The University side then had the first chance of the second-half when Geoffrey Massa did well to get his head to a cross from Mpho Maruping, but the AmaTuks player could not find the target in the 56th minute.

The hosts then were forced to play the remainder of the game with 10 men when Aupa Moeketsi was given his marching orders for a bad foul on Ronald Ketjijere in the 65th minute.

Bennett Chenene then had a shot just miss the target for Matsatsantsa in the 70th minute of play.

Washington Arubi was called into action in the final 10 minutes of the match when the AmaTuks shot-stopper did well to save a Dino Ndlovu shot.

Ronwen Williams also made a late save in the final minutes of play when the SuperSport keeper made a full-stretch save to parry the ball to safety and make sure that the hosts picked up all three points.
