Brockie: These Are The Games We Play For

Sundowns Striker Looking Forward To The Chiefs Match

By Soccer Laduma - Jan 26, 2018 04:13 PM

Jeremy Brockie is looking forward to playing in front of a packed FNB Stadium as Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will battle it out for three points this weekend.

Chiefs will host Sundowns in their second Absa Premiership match of the season. Amakhosi beat Downs 2-1 in the first round match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in October last year.

Brockie is hoping to help Sundowns avenge the first match’s results, as Pitso Mosimane and his charges at the Chloorkop outfit are aiming to widen the gap at the top of the log.

“I can’t wait for Saturday and I know there’s going to be a massive crowd, between two clubs that are trying to win the league title. If I get my chance to get on the pitch, I will make the most of it. Hopefully, I can play my part and help the team collect all three points. These are the kinds of games every footballer plays for and wants to be involved in, playing in front of a big crowd where there are high expectations, there’s pressure on you and the big players turn up and put in a performance,” the New Zealand star told the Siya crew.

“It is still early days, as I’ve only joined the club recently, but I have been putting the hard yards in at training, to try and get myself into the squad. If I do get the opportunity to make the squad and get a chance to play, I will put in a performance that will hopefully help the team win,” concluded Brockie.

The match on Saturday is scheduled to start at 20h15.

@Bridgertte Layun. It is wrong to classify all white fellows as racist. I suspect @Boris Becker is a racist. He should be a racist judging by his attack on Brockie. I don't believe we have such characters on this side.

Nonetheless, with revenge seemingly on the cards for the Tshwane giants, the 53-year-old has already begun playing mind games with the opposition, choosing to downplay his side’s chances against the Glamour Boys. "I wish I could play these big games with a fully fit team and compete fairly‚" Mosimane said to the great khosiological

Mosimane further explained that Sundowns need to box smart against an organised Chiefs outfit, and cannot afford to play into play into their hands by leaving themselves vulnerable to the counterattack. "We need to be smart against Chiefs,” he explained. "Not be all over the place. We know how they play," Mosimane addded. "We must also avoid playing into their hands because we are playing away and somebody must attack," he concluded.

“Yes, I’m scared!” Mosimane responded when asked if he scared of Amakhosi.

"And this is a big team. One thing people must not forget, this team is big. We do not get surprised by a positive run. But we just get angry when it's not coming. So that when we are winning, to us it's normal. The only thing is when we draw, because to us a draw is a loss, then we get a bit edgy. But a win, a win is normal at Chiefs, it is what we get paid for."concluded sir Kompela

“We’re playing Kaizer Chiefs in FNB Stadium, so we’re going to give them the respect. They can hurt you, and they’ve hurt us in the previous two matches,” said Kekena.

“And, like I’ve said, we just have to be cautious when we play Kaizer Chiefs. We lost twice in the last two matches we played, so we can’t be naïve and go there and open the match like we used to.”concluded Pizza

“They’re capable of winning matches any time, any day. So, as players, we’re very aware of their threat, especially Castro, Paez – their front three. “Whenever they play us, they play like the Messi’s and them, so obviously we want to prevent them from coming into our box....concluded Pizza

@Bugatti Boy you are wrong about league titles, if my memory serves me well Chiefs has 12 league titles, Sunclowns 10 and Pierats 9. I stand to be corrected though!
