The PSL confirmed this morning (Monday) that Sundowns are the winners of the Q3, following their 5-0 win over Polokwane City on Wednesday, and Bloemfontein Celtic’s 3-0 loss to the same opposition on Saturday.
“Mamelodi Sundowns’ 5-0 thumping of Polokwane City, and Bloemfontein Celtic’s 3-0 loss to the same side, has ensured that the Tshwane giants walk away with the Q3 award – and R1.5-million windfall for the players,” sundownsfc.co.za revealed.
“Celtic were the only threat to Sundowns’ position going into the weekend, but they suffered a rare loss since Clinton Larsen took over, against the Polokwane side.
“Sundowns recorded six wins, and 19 points from this quarter’s eight games to outstrip their opponents and walk away with the prize. The chasing pack had included Bidvest Wits, University of Pretoria (beaten by SuperSport United), and Celtic.
“Sundowns’ policy is that any prize money won is shared by the players and the technical team,” the club confirmed on their official website.
