Sundowns On Shongwe Blow

Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed that the club received a report from Bafana Bafana that exciting midfielder Jabulani Shongwe will be out for at least 10 days.

It was revealed by the Siya crew earlier today (Wednesday, January 8) that the 23-year-old was replaced by Matthew Pattison at Bafana, after picking up a groin injury during the team’s preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN).

“Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jabulani Shongwe has suffered a groin strain and will be out of action for at least ten days. Sundowns received a report from the Bafana Bafana team doctors informing the club about the injury to the midfielder.

"According to the report, Shongwe strained his groin during a practice match against Milano FC in preparation for the CHAN opener against Mozambique in Cape Town. The doctors state that Shongwe will be out for atleast two weeks, which means he will not be ready for the league match against Kaizer Chiefs on January 23. The player will remain with the national team as he recovers from the injury,” sundownsfc.co.za revealed.
