Mamelodi Sundowns are seemingly losing hope on catching Kaizer Chiefs at the top of the Absa Premiership log, following the team’s 1-0 loss to Bidvest Wits on Tuesday.
Although Sundowns have a game in hand going into the weekend’s league games, the 13-point gap opened by Chiefs at the top of the log could be too much for Pitso Mosimane’s side to close, if Stuart Baxter’s team continue with their impressive form of this season.
Sundowns’ defender, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, believes that the team should focus on their games and wait to see what will be happening to Chiefs at a later stage.
“Last season it was more or less the same situation and we went on to win the trophy. We just have to concentrate on our games and win them. We shouldn’t be thinking about Chiefs or any other team because that will disturb us. Remember, anything is possible in football,” said Mphahlele.
Sundowns travel to the Charles Mopeli Stadium for the game against Free State Stars on Saturday, while Chiefs will be hosting Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on the same day.
