In issue 855 of Soccer-Laduma the Siya crew revealed that Mamelodi Sundowns have made contact with Platinum Stars with a view to lure Lindokuhle Mbatha to the club.
According to information on our desk, the Brazilians are serious in their interest to lure Mbatha to Chloorkop in the near future.
The player’s agent Mandla Mthembu confirmed to the Siya crew that negotiations for the nippy and skilful winger are ongoing between the two clubs.
“Yes I can confirm that contact has been made and the clubs are still in discussions. All I can say from the player’s side is that we will be guided by them. We have discussed the possibility of a move with Lindo. We discussed it at length and he feels that he served the club (Stars) well and has achieved success with them. He feels that it is time to move on to face new challenges. He is ready to move immediately and he feels that his club, Platinum Stars, will give him blessings,” said Mthembu.
Soccer-Laduma understands that part of what has been in discussions is for the deal to be finalised now, but for the player to leave at the end of the season.
In the meantime, Mbatha has been given more time to recover following his return from Bafana Bafana.
Lindo along with his teammates Vuyo Mere, Tsepo Gumede and Siyabonga Mpontshane formed part of Gordon Igesund’s team that played in the CHAN tournament.
The four players are expected to resume training with the rest of their teammates on Friday as was revealed by the Siya crew.
