Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to report for preseason on 23 June in preparation for the defence of their league campaign.
Pitso Mosimane’s immediate task will be assessing all the players, especially those that have been on loan at different PSL and National First Division clubs in the 2013/14 season, before making a decision on the make-up of his squad. This will be done with mainly the Caf Champions League and the domestic league campaign in mind, as the Brazilians seek to conquer all before them next season.
That means a huge number of players are expected to turn up at the club’s Chloorkop base, although it is not yet clear who is going to be kept or released.
Already the Siya crew has revealed that Themba Zwane has been earmarked for a bigger role for next season and the club will be taking up the option of a further year that they have on his contract.
Meanwhile, Edward Manqele, who was on loan at Moroka Swallows, has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, who are said to have rekindled their interest in the Randfontein-born marksman.
Regarding the players that were on loan at Chippa United, negotiations are said to have begun between the two clubs as to which players will be returning to Sundowns and which ones the Chilli Boys will try and keep.
