Stuart Baxter says the decision whether to return Itumeleng Khune to the Kaizer Chiefs XI will not be a choice that he makes on his own.

Khune hasn’t played a competitive game of football for a number of months now since injuring his ankle while on Bafana Bafana duty, however is now on the verge of returning to full fitness.
With the second half of the Amakhosi’s Absa Premiership campaign set to begin on Wednesday, Baxter is faced with a choice of giving Khune a spot in the team or sticking with Brilliant Khuzwayo or Reyaad Pieterse.
Speaking to the media on Monday, February 9, Baxter explained his situation, saying, “Itu has been doing very well and working very hard. We’re looking at the whole situation and not making it about Itu, but I will be speaking to Rainer about him. I always speak to the goalkeeper coach before making a decision on who will play.
“It’s possible Itu is almost ready to play and we’re happy with the fact that we have Brilliant and Reyaad who have been showing very good tendencies over the last six months while Itu has been away.

“When Itu comes back it has to be for more than one reason. We’ll make a decision based on a few things, but I’ll make that decision after talking to the rest of the staff.”
