Kaizer Chiefs pair, Knowledge Musona and Reyaad Pieterse, will both go for check-ups on their respective injuries today to gauge their seriousness.
Both players had to be substituted during Chiefs’ 2-0 win over AS Vita at the weekend, as the Amakhosi crashed out of the CAF Champions League after a 3-2 aggregate defeat.
The Siya crew reported over the weekend that Pieterse, who sustained an injury to his eye after colliding with the post, was expected to be back in time for Wednesday’s game against Golden Arrows, though it depends on whether the swelling dies down enough.
Meanwhile, Musona had to be helped off the field with an ankle injury once he’d rolled his ankle during one of Chiefs’ attacks.
The club’s media and communications manager, Vina Maphosa, confirmed that the two would be going for check-ups, tweeting yesterday, “Musona and Pieterse going for check-up tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, a statement from their medical team on the club's official website said, ""Reyaad had a laceration to his left eyelid after a collision with the upright. It had to be stitched field side.
Knowledge jumped and landed wrong on his left ankle. He has a ligament strain on the outside of the ankle. Both are going for scans on Monday to confirm the extent of their injuries.
We will be able to confirm time frames once we have these results."
Stuart Baxter will be hoping that neither injury is one that will keep the players out for an extended period of time as the club enters into a vital few weeks in their PSL and Nedbank Cup campaigns.
