Baxter: Downs Breached Our Fortress

Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, has refused to be disheartened by the ending of his unbeaten league run at home, urging his players to move on.

The Amakhosi were beaten 1-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium this weekend, bringing Chiefs’ 29-game unbeaten home run in league games to an end, and putting the Brazilians level on points with the league leaders.

Baxter has been in charge for 27 of those 29 league games, with the defeat handing him his first league defeat at home since taking over at Naturena.

However, the Englishman isn’t worried about personal records, saying that he can’t fault his players for their effort or performance.

Speaking to Chiefs’ official website, Baxter said, "We play to win in each and every game we play. Personally, and that goes with every coach, you look forward to a win in every game you play. They (Sundowns) breached our fortress, but I can't fault the players because my players worked hard and played well.”

Chiefs’ next game, against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday, is now a must win encounter as they look to consolidate their position on top of the PSL.
