Former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter has revealed that a number of Danish clubs were after goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune’s signature.
Both Baxter and Khune decided not to renew their contracts with the Amakhosi at the end of last season after helping them to a league and cup double.
Khune was reportedly linked with a number of overseas-based clubs, however decided to return to Naturena just before the 2015/16 campaign got underway.
Baxter has confirmed the overseas interest in Khune, indicating that he was made aware of reported interest from a couple Danish clubs.
“I knew that there were a couple of Danish clubs, like Brondby, interested in him. Nobody called me about it but I found out through my contacts in Scandinavia. I knew there was interest from Belgium as well,” Baxter told Soccer Laduma.
Do you think that Khune should’ve tested his mettle overseas? Or was he right to remain in Mzansi and settle back down with Chiefs?
