Stuart Baxter has cleared the air regarding his position with the South African Football Association (SAFA), and the speculation on his future.
In recent times, the speculation surrounding the Bafana Bafana head coach has been rife, with the Englishman being heavily linked with both Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United.
While Baxter has been linked to a return to two clubs he previously mentored, he is still under contract with SAFA. Both SuperSport and Chiefs have yet to appoint a new coach ahead of the 2018/19 season, and while it is believed that they would welcome his return, the head coach has made it clear that, as it stands, he is committed to his role at SAFA.
The Siya crew managed to contact Baxter, who is currently on holiday with his family in Sweden, with the coach clearing the air on his future by saying, “Look, any speculations saying that I’ve left Bafana and my job at SAFA are just rumours. There is and has been, interest from plenty of clubs here in Europe and in South Africa, but I’m focused on my job with Bafana right now. They’re my employers and that’s the situation we’re in at the moment.”
