On-form Wits striker, Sthembiso Ngcobo, insists that he has nothing to prove to those who doubted his abilities following his unsuccessful stays at Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu.
Ngcobo has been in prolific form for Wits since joining them from Usuthu in January, and has scored six league goals for the Students, taking his tally to seven this season.
“I can’t go around trying to prove myself to everyone. I have a job to do here at Wits and that job is to score goals, so as long as the club management, the technical team and the supporters are happy with that, I’m happy too,” Ngcobo told the Siya crew.
Wits are considered to be the dark horses as far as the league race is concerned, but Ngcobo says the race is between Chiefs and Sundowns this season.
“If you look at the gap between us and the top two teams, Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, it’s huge, so I don’t know why people keep on saying we stand a chance of winning the league. A top three finish is a definite possibility for us, but winning it... I don’t think that’s possible at this stage.
“The league race is between Chiefs and Sundowns at this stage,” added Ngcobo.
The third placed Wits will play Platinum Stars at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday.
