Wits coach, Gavin Hunt, believes Sthembiso Ngcobo will continue to make progress as his number nine upfront for the club. The 30-year-old joined the club in January after enduring a failed loan spell at AmaZulu, on loan from Kaizer Chiefs.
In addition, the hitman perhaps didn't hit the heights as a goalscorer for the Glamour Boys although a lack of regular game time may have contributed to this form. The Durban-born forward scored just five league goals in close to 50 appearances for the club.
In fact, the player's most prolific season came all the way back in 2008/09 when he banged in 10 goals for Free State Stars. Nonetheless, in the following five years or so he, seems to have struggled to match this level of performance.
However, Ngcobo has started his spell at Wits by putting in some good displays upfront for the Clever Boys. The Durban-born forward has gotten his name on the scoresheet, and played an influential role in Wits' recent 3-2 win over SuperSport United as well. The striker assisted in helping Sibusiso Vilakazi bag a hat-trick.
This is why Hunt believes the player is on track to finding his best form. He told the Siya crew, "I thought he was poor against SuperSport. There were times he could play people in and he didn't. But, whatever, he is doing a lot of work because he hasn't played for a long time really. He's decent, is improving and I like him. It's part of his job to contribute to scoring goals, you know."
