Komphela: We’re Unbeaten For Five Games…
Steve Komphela says that while Kaizer Chiefs are unbeaten in their last five Absa Premiership games, they can still do better as they prepare to face Chippa United.
The Amakhosi go into tonight’s encounter knowing that a victory would take them level on points with the current log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, and they will be keen to bring to an end a run of four consecutive draws.
Komphela, who has come under pressure following another barren season so far, knows that the Chilli Boys will be a threat, and is prepared to face tough opposition in Port Elizabeth later tonight.
He told the club’s official website, “We are unbeaten (in) five league games in a row, however, we have only won once, drawing the other four. We can do better.
“We worked hard on finishing and with a bit more composure in the box, I am confident that we will beat Chippa. Make no mistake, they are dangerous. They have lethal players and their build-up play is something to look out for. In our previous encounters, they didn’t allow us to build-up from the back and they were very robust in their play. We are bringing our A-game tonight.”
Meanwhile, he insisted that they have been working on improving their game, saying, “We have addressed the issue of consistency in our play. Our preparations were spot on and I hope that we can take the quality of the form shown in our recent practice sessions into our game. The lads looked sharp in training and the mood in the camp is good.
“Of course, Chippa have proven to be a hard nut to crack this season. The game will be interesting to watch, that’s for sure. The atmosphere will be fantastic as always, with an enthusiastic crowd at the stadium. I am hopeful that with the positive energy flowing from the stands that the players will respond accordingly by scoring goals.”
Chippa host the Glamour Boys at 19h30 this evening.
