Steve Komphela Stresses The Need For Kaizer Chiefs To Remain Focused
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela believes they have to take it one game at a time, having moved to within four points of Mamelodi Sundowns
Chiefs moved four points adrift of Sundowns after securing a 1-0 win over Cape Town City on Saturday.
“Focus, focus, focus. Take it one game at a time. The essence of stress is the anticipation of time not available. We live for now, whatever happens tomorrow will happen. But if you want to finish the nine matches now when there’s nine to play somewhere, you’re going to fluff," Komphela told SuperSport after the game.
“So focus on the match now. Kill this one now. Each time you live for now, you have little pain because you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. So we live for now,” he said post-match.
Above all, Komphela’s pleased the manner in which their defensive guard managed to stood the test, particularly Daniel Cardoso who led the line superbly.
“It wouldn’t be easy because we said in the dressing room that matches of this nature are won by small margins. Even though, I thought we had quite a few chances to score two or three.
“We have to be gracious and be happy with the result and Benni’s team not easy to play against. He is doing a great job and compliments must be given to him.
“They made several differences with Lyle Lakay, Sibusiso Masina and (Matthew) Rusike as well. But I thought our defensive line was well marshalled by Cardoso. We delighted with the victory,” he said.
