Kaizer Chiefs: LDDLLD
Last night’s draw with Platinum Stars saw Kaizer Chiefs’ winless streak in the league extend to six games, an unfortunate run that hasn’t happened in over a decade.
The Amakhosi haven’t picked up a win in the Absa Premiership since beating University of Pretoria back in April, and now find themselves with just the one win in 16 matches across all competitions.
While pressure heaps on Steve Komphela’s shoulders, the Glamour Boys continue to struggle on the field, with Hendrick Ekstein’s deflected shot the only moment that kept them from a defeat on Wednesday evening.
The last time that Chiefs went six league games without a win was back in 2006 under Ernst Middendorp, although even that run was better than their current form as they drew four and lost two, compared to three defeats and three draws this time around.
It’s now 141 days since Komphela’s side won a competitive game of football, and with the fans growing ever more impatient, the next couple of matches could be make or break for the former Bafana Bafana midfielder at Naturena.
